During the early morning of April 8, 2025, several Rotarians from the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro motored to Barangay Balubal to turn-over to the officials and students of the Balubal National High School a new steel stage donated by the Club in partnership with Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, Representative of Cagayan de Oro City, 2nd Congressional District.
It can be recalled that the officers of Interact Club of Balubal National High School led by President Nelia Mondejar, took the initiative to approach some members of RC West CDO regarding their school’s old and dilapidated wooden stage to be used during the graduation of Grade 12 students by April, 2025. Due to its hazardous condition, the students feared their safety come graduation time. The Interact Club was organized thru the efforts of RC West CDO
Just like any concerned parent, RC West CDO under the leadership of its out-going President, Dr. Dures Fe Tagayuna immediately initiated soliciting donations from the generous Rotarians to cover the cost of materials and construction. Fortunately, the amount needed was raised within two (2) weeks and the steel bridge was constructed. The actual fabrication of the stage was done through the technical expertise of Past Assistant Governor Almarco Brito, who happens to be an engineer.
Thus, on April 8, 2025, the new steel stage was officially turned over to the Balubal National High School, represented by its School Principal. The school principal, Dr. Rodel C. Estenzo, expressed his deep gratitude for this donation and committed to take good care of this stage. He informed those who attended the turn-over that the following day, April 9, the Grade 12 student of the school will be the first users of the stage.
